Anne K. Effron, LCSW BCD

Individual and Couples Therapist

I’ve been a licensed clinical social worker for 35 years, and couples therapy has been one of my primary specializations. I have had extensive post-graduate training in family and couples work—including with world-renowned relationship expert, Terry Real. I have been certified as a couples therapist by his Institute since 2007. (www.terryreal.com) Over the years, I have evolved a lively and effective way of helping couples in distress get “unstuck” and move into a more satisfying and respectful relationship with each other. I teach the relational skills that couples need to make love work.

In my work with individuals, I help women and men who are struggling with anxiety and/or depression. I support women who are facing the challenges of pregnancy loss and infertility. I also work with women and their partners who are coping with post-partum depression. Much of my practice is devoted to adults undergoing major life transitions – following a job loss, the end of a relationship, a divorce or death of a loved one. At these times, many feel the thread of their lives has been lost. Trust in themselves recedes after such a major loss, at a time when people most need it. My strength lies in helping my clients retrieve a sense of themselves and find the vitality to move forward.

In combination with my extensive experience and wide repertoire of clinical skills, I bring to my practice warmth, sensitivity, and a genuine pleasure in working with people. I am easy to talk with, and I have a well-honed capacity to listen and to understand.
